The UK's Department for Education is expanding the number of eligible providers for T Levels, a new type of technical qualification being introduced in stages between 2020 and 2024.

Currently, all providers delivering 16 to 19 study programmes are able to offer T Levels introduced in 2020 and 2021. This includes providers with good or outstanding ratings from Ofsted, the UK's education and training inspectorate.

Starting in 2022 and 2023, T Levels will be available to providers with good or outstanding ratings from Ofsted. Over 400 providers are currently planning to deliver T Levels in 2023.

From 2024, all T Levels will be available to be delivered by any provider offering 16 to 19 study programmes, regardless of their Ofsted rating. This will provide more opportunities for students to access the high-quality, technical education and training that T Levels offer.

T Levels are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen industry, and are equivalent to three A Levels. They are a key part of the UK government's plan to provide technical education and training that is on par with academic routes.

The expansion of eligible providers for T Levels is a welcome move, and will help to ensure that students across the UK have access to this important new qualification.
