The Department for Education (DfE) has announced additional funding and support for T Level providers and employers to help enhance the T Level program. These measures are designed to benefit both employers and students to ensure that T Level qualifications are more widely available and provide a valuable contribution to the UK economy.
One of the key initiatives announced by the DfE is a one-year employer support fund. This fund will provide financial assistance to employers offering T Level industry placements in the financial year 2023 to 2024. Employers can claim funding to cover legitimate costs associated with hosting a T Level industry placement student, such as set-up costs, equipment, and staff training. This initiative is expected to encourage more employers to provide industry placements for T Level students and help students to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their chosen fields.
The DfE has also announced a 10% uplift on T Level funding for the 2023/4 academic year. T Level providers will see this increase in their 16-19 funding allocations, which will be distributed shortly. This funding uplift will help to support T Level providers in delivering high-quality courses that are attractive to students and meet the needs of employers.
In addition to these measures, T Level providers will receive a specialist equipment allocation for 2023. This will enable them to invest in the latest equipment and resources, ensuring that students are trained to use the latest technologies in their chosen fields. This will help students to develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their careers.
Finally, all providers delivering T Levels in the 2023/24 academic year will be given a one-off grant to support the provision of additional careers guidance. This initiative will ensure that all T Level students receive the guidance they need to make informed decisions about their futures.
The additional funding and support announced by the DfE will undoubtedly have a positive impact on T Level providers, employers, and students alike. It will help to ensure that T Levels continue to provide high-quality education and training, preparing students for successful careers in their chosen fields. By providing financial assistance, specialist equipment, and careers guidance, the government is making a significant investment in the future of the UK economy, creating a highly-skilled workforce that can meet the needs of employers in a rapidly changing world.
